Crown of the Lich
A downloadable game for Windows
Overview
Crown of the Lich combines an atmospheric horror adventure with the expressive gameplay of movement FPS games. The player explores a wizard’s castle, which is currently (or has eternally been?) under attack by strange creatures from another plane. Grow from puny homunculus to godlike being in 30-45 minutes.
Instructions
WASD to move, SPACE to jump. You'll discover other inputs as you play the game. Always look for a way forward.
One hint: seek out anything that's throwing off particles. They're friendly objects!

Credits
Crown of the Lich was developed by me, Robert Scherf. I used Godot 4, and the maps were created using Trenchbroom.
The visuals were inspired by Lucas Pope's Return of the Obra Dinn. Sam Bigos's Dither Gradient Shader provided the starting point for a similar look.
I used the following assets:
- Trenchbroom loader Godot plugin by codecat
- Chomsky font by Fredrick Brennan
- Manific Chaos font by Billy Argel
- Spellbook model by rubengc
- Scroll model model by PantherOne
- Low Poly Hands model by Kickin' It Studios
- Ill Commendatore model by matousekfoto (sculpture by Anna Chromy)
- Knave texture set by Andrew Bullock
- DRONES sounds by Bleeoop
- Horror SFX Vol. 1 sounds by ObsydianX
- Abyssal Horror SFX Vol. 2 sounds by Alchemia Magicae
- Impact sounds by KenneyNL
Special thanks to Amber Morrison Fox for help developing my concept.
